This weekend we decided to head out to the perfect camping spot that Mark found this spring and has been dreaming of occupying ever since (see earlier post). I mandated that we only go for one night this trip just to see how Mason would do, then we can go for the two nighter in a couple of weeks. So we get to the trail and let the dog out to run along, she doesn't like riding on the rough road too much and this way she gets some exercise. After awhile, we're going along and she starts yelping like crazy... we thought, great we ran over the dog and the trip is over before it even began. We checked her out and she seemed to be just fine, not favoring the leg or even a scratch, so crisis averted apparently.

The spot was pretty deluxe, secluded, a creek nearby, lots of trees, lots of grass and groundcover. It was beautiful up there (and I do mean UP), I'm sure this is the best spot we have found yet, it just takes awhile to get there. Here's a pic of the view from the site, notice the treeline, which is at 12,000 feet, so do the math and you know what I mean by up there!

Mason did great, he slept all night and seemed to have a good time. His favorite activity was pulling all the wildflowers off their stems. I'm sure that he could have cleaned out the entire area if I had let him.

Landon totally digs camping, he was so excited to go and had a great time. He's already wondering when we are going again. There was lots of cool stuff to explore and he loved playing by the creek. One cool thing was this old cabin that some miners built back in the day. It's pretty cool to see the evidence still there today after so many years.

So after having lots of fun we get the Jeep all loaded up to come home, hop in, turn the key and... click, dead battery! Now the seclusion isn't seeming so great. Thankfully you would be hard pressed to find an area completely devoid of human life around here so Mark only had to hoof it for a little over a mile to find some help and we made it home okay. Now I know what to get him for our anniversary!
