Spring Break

For Spring Break we talked about going to Mt. Rushmore, it's only about 6 hours from our house! But Mark was really busy at work and couldn't take the time off so we decided to postpone for April or May. It turned out to be a good thing since the morning we were supposed to leave we woke up to a good ol' Colorado spring snow storm. It snowed pretty heavily all day and by the time it was done we had about 18 inches of wet, heavy snow.

If you've been to our house you know that the front door is pretty tucked back in, away from the weather, on the front porch. So to open it up and see this was a surprise. I don't think we've ever had this happen.
This was the view out of every single window in the house. The wind blew pretty good from every direction and had them all covered in snow, between that and how hard it was snowing we could hardly see anything.
The little girl was the only one who would go out with me to shovel. Landon had the stomach flu and the other two weren't interested.
The view out the front door before I shoveled a path.
It took me an hour and a half just to shovel this. It was so heavy. The pic doesn't do it justice because there's nothing for scale in it but that pile where I shoveled it all to was probably up to my chin. I had a little path you can barely see about half way down the driveway over to the pile. I thought Mark would enjoy shoveling the rest. Right as he got home the neighbor came over and used the snowblower on the rest. So unfair!
