Prisoner

On Monday Owen came down with a little bit of a cough, mostly at night, not much during the day and that was it, no runny nose or anything else. Wednesday morning when he woke up he was working really hard to breath and had a mild fever. Luckily he and Mason already had doc appointments that morning for their regular check-ups. I figured we'd go and they'd tell us to come home and do the nebulizer treatments for a few days like they have with the other two boys before. But Owen decided he wanted to be special and didn't respond well to the nebs in the doc's office while keeping his blood oxygen saturation too low for the doctor's liking. So they sent us to the hospital to be admitted. After all kinds of poking and prodding, which he absolutely loves, it was decided that his lungs looked beautiful (completely clear), RSV test negative, flu test negative. All good but that also means they didn't know exactly what was causing the breathing distress it was "just some virus". So we stayed the night, with it's ups and downs. Morning dawned a little brighter and after eating a good lunch he was ready to breakout of there! They let us detach him from everything so he could run around and play a little easier and he headed straight for the door and down the hallway for the exit! They gave us the choice of staying another night or coming home on oxygen....let me think....HOME! (You should have seen how giddy he was coming home, so funny!) So here we are, he's breathing much easier but needs to be on oxygen while he sleeps because his saturation still drops too low then, we have nebulizer treatments six times a day and saline and Flonase shot up his nose a few times a day. We're going back to the doc tomorrow and hopefully can come off the oxygen then (fingers crossed!).

In the ER waiting for our room.

I just want to play!
